As 2015 comes to a close, water and sewage rates throughout the county will likely increase in not only Monaca, but other municipalities as well.  Once these rates are published, Our Monaca will revisit the sewer and water rates to see where Monaca’s rates are situated.  Between now and then, we hope to be able to look into how the money is being spent, what improvements are being made to both the sewage and water system, and how both the water and sewage systems operate.  Stay tuned.

Sewage Bill Calculator

We have made available an online calculator that gives a hypothetical comparison of sewage rates based upon those that were published on their website.  It should be noted that this is just an example calculator and should not be used to budget, contest, or dispute a bill that you received.  This calculator also uses rates as they were published on 11/24/2015, these are of course subject to change in future dates and would result in a different outcome.  Type the gallons that you use into the orange box and the values will automatically update.

The Big Question

If you are reading this article as a result of our Facebook Page (click here to like it), you are most likely dieing to know what is costs you to use the loo.  Assuming you are in a household that uses 15,000 gallons per quarter and you have a house with a toilet that meets the current federal plumbing standards (1.6 gpf), your breakdown would be as follows:

Water: 1.2 ¢
Sewage: 1 ¢
Total per flush: 3.2 ¢
